10th Century Irish High cross

Found in County Louth, Ireland. Based on one of the most magnificent of the Irish High Crosses. It was carved in stone around 922 A. D. The original cross is approximately 17 feet tall. All faces of the cross are story-telling, and the face shown on the jewelry piece is the North-West face. Starting at the top, the Ascension is depicted, at the center is the Crucifixtion. To the left, is Peter's denial of Christ, while on the right is the Resurrection. Going down the long arm of the cross, the top panel shows Jesus with Peter and Paul. The second panel shows the raised Christ, and the bottom panel shows the soldiers mocking Jesus. At the bottom are two cats, one kissing a mouse and the other kissing a bird - a Gaelic depiction of Isaiah 11:6.
