Horned Serpent of Cernunnos - brooch
2" (51mm) high. x 1 13/16" (46mm) wide with tail down
2 1/2" (63.5mm) high. x 1 13/16" (46mm) wide with tail up

This piece is an original design based on the serpent seen in the left hand of the horned god, Cernunnos, on the Gundestrup cauldron.  The serpent represents wisdom, and the horns, power.  The original artwork using this serpent is found on my wallwork "EIKON" and is part of the design that represents order coming out of chaos.

The tail of the Serpent can be either extended as shown or pulled into the body of the piece.  This makes it less likely to catch on fabric. Also, the loops are left on the tail ends so that you can use it as a pendant with a small diameter cord or chain.

Colors are darker on bronze than on silver or gold.

Sherridan Smith - fine collectibles offers Christian jewelry and art with an historic touchCeltic crosses based on the actual stone Celtic crosses from Ireland, Scotland, Isle of Man, Wales and Cornwall.  The "Plus" are items that are original designs or are from other parts of the world, but have influenced Celtic Christianity. It is interesting to me that through out the centuries, Christians have taken the cross - usually a symbol of torture and death - and made beautiful jewelry, displays, paintings, and sculpture.  This works because the cross is a symbol of VICTORY for us.
